Wander Alarm Home Security Alert

Easy to install
Wander Alarm Home Security Alert is easily installed using the included double-sided tape or screws to any door or window. If the door or window is opened, the Wander Alarm beeps. Wander Alarm is great for home use by caregivers or facility use. Use the Wander Alarm for seniors, the elderly, Alzheimer's patients and dementia patients for home safety. One transmitter and one portable receiver is included.

Peace of mind and safety

Wander Alarm provides safety and security for Alzheimer's and dementia patients. Alzheimer
patients may have fitful sleep, waking often, their sleeping patterns are altered. Sometimes if they wake up to use the restroom they are disoriented and confused and may wander around the house or try to go outside. This system notifies the caretaker/family member to help keep these patients from wandering out of the home or facility or into untended areas.

How loud is the alarm?
The alarm alerting sound is an 85 decibel high-pitched beep (no volume control). So, what does 85 decibels (dB) sound like? The common garbage disposal is 80dB, a food blender is 88dB, a diesel truck going 40 mph at 80 ft is about 84 dB. Anything OVER 85 decibels for an extended period can cause hearing damage. No, it won't be as loud as your home security alarm siren (these can get as high as 120 dB) when it goes off for an intruder. You can also set the receiver to vibrate if preferred. The receiver can be worn by the caregiver/family member on the waist or belt and you can set for vibrate if someone is sleeping. Or, the receiver can be attached to a wall using screws or double sided tape or placed on a table. The alarm sounds for as long as the door is open and then automatically turns off.

There is also a low battery indicator which should be checked frequently.

"Sundown Syndrome"
"Starting at dusk and continuing throughout the night, many people with dementia become more confused, disoriented, anxious, agitated, insecure, restless. The causes of "sundowning" behavior are not known, but you can take measures to help keep the combination of sleep problems and wandering from overwhelming patients and caregivers alike. This is so critical because patient sleeplessness and caregiver exhaustion are two of the most common reasons why people with Alzheimer's are eventually placed in nursing homes." - Alzheimer's Association, New York city Chapter.
