Off Hook Alert Phone HD-60J

"The Off Hook Alert Phone was the solution to our problem, especially since I live out of state. Now mom knows when the phone is off the hook. Easy to use too."

Phone off the hook for hours causing worry?
An off the hook alert phone helps those with memory and/or hearing issues that are accidentally leaving the phone off the hook. When the phone receiver is off the hook because it wasn't placed back on the hook properly after a phone call, callers can't get through, causing worried family members. You know they should be home and start wondering if an elderly family member may have fallen or is sick. You wait and wait and the phone may just keep ringing. Finally you get in the car if possible and go over to see how your loved one is, or call a neighbor or family member to go check on them. For some families, this is a routine experience.

Audible and visual warning alert
Now, with this off the hook alert feature there are both audible and visual warnings to alert the user that the phone had been improperly hung-up, preventing incoming calls. This may be enough to give you peace of mind and your loved one more independent living.

How long does the alert last?
According to the manufacturer: "If you do not place the handset squarely into its cradle and hang-up properly after a call, your phone remains "alive"and no calls will be able to come in. The central office of your telephone company will be able to detect that and send you a "howling" tone to warn you. When the HD-60J recognizes this "howling" tone it automatically activates its loud alarm and the flashers to attract your attention. The warning will continue until you hang up the phone properly or until the phone company cuts off your line by stop sending the howling tone."

Amplification, sharp, clear words for moderate to severe hearing loss
This phone also features 55dB of amplification for moderate to severe hearing loss and a very loud up to 95dB ringer (adjustable) with dual visual indicator. This is excellent voice clarity, making the words more sharp, clear and easier to understand than with a regular phone.

Boost over-ride
There is also Boost Over-ride for amplification and a large keypad with braille for those who are blind or have very low vision. This boost amplification can be set so that it goes back to the preset volume level every time the receiver is picked up. That way if someone has memory issues they won't have to remember to change the volume each time they use the phone.

Great so far February 11, 2017
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Salinas, CA United States
Hello, I purchased this phone for my parents who regularly leave their phone off the hook.  I tested it at a friend's house, and it works great.  I will need to change my parents' phone service to a non-digital service in order for the off-hook feature to work.

Senior Phone February 23, 2015
Reviewer: Darlyn Caldon from Columbia, SC United States
I tested the phone at my home and the off hook alert didn't work, but after talking w/ a rep. at your office, I was told that some land lines don't support that feature. I wish that I knew that before hand, but all was good anyway. The phone intended location at my mother-in-laws assisted living apt., it worked just fine. She is happy with the new phone and it does work as described. Thanks..

Telephone with Alert Off Hook February 13, 2014
Reviewer: JJ from Maryland United States
I received my telephone.  It has been great.  I had a little trouble connecting because I did not connect it at first to the main line.  After I was aware of this I connected it to main line.  I have not had any trouble with the phone.  The reason I got the phone my Mother was constantly not placing her phone on the hook.  It has made her aware when she sees the blinking red light her phone is off the hook.  I love it since I live in another state than my Mother.  If I get a busy signal from her phone, I know she will see the red light soon and put her phone on the hook.  I have received great comments about the phone and other people are interested in getting one for their parent.
The loud ringing I thought would bother her, but that is fine.

Only for the hard-of-hearing April 14, 2013
Reviewer: Andrea from Framingham, MA United States
My dad is not hard-of-hearing, but I purchased this phone because of the off-the-hook alarm, a feature that I could not find on any other phone.  Unfortunately, even on its lowest setting, the ringer is so loud that I'm afraid the phone would MAKE Dad hard-of-hearing!  I called the manufacturer, who confirmed that there was no way to further lower or turn off the ringer.  So, unfortunately, I'm returning the product.  I do wish the off-the-hook alarm was a feature incorporated into other phone models.  The hard-of-hearing are not the only ones who might be prone to leaving phones off the hook.

Serene Innovations HD60J Jumbo Key Amplified Phon February 7, 2013
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Beverly Hills, CA United States
The product, purchased for my elderly aunt, was a life-savor for her.   Communication by phone had gotten more and more difficult due to both sight and hearing loss.   The phone solved it all.   I had some difficulty with a few features and was delighted at the immediate help I received when I called in.    Good company to deal with.  Highly recommend.
