The Clarity In-line Phone Amplifier by Clarity attaches to the telephone to give additional amplification. The in-line phone amplifier has an adjustable volume and tone and an additional boost button which maximizes amplification while at the same time blocking feedback and background noises. Clarity HA40 telephone accessories provides up to a total of 40 decibels of amplification.
The tone selector amplifies certain frequencies for speech and it is compatible with most phones found in the home or office. The Clarity In-line Phone Amplifier uses a 9 volt battery which is included.
Some users keep the portable in-line phone amplifier on the lowest setting and only use as needed, for example when talking to a soft spoken person. This helps prevent mistakes and having to ask the person to repeat themselves. This is just a good business advantage. Use the Clarity HA40 telephone accessories for hard of hearing at work or home. The benefit of this in-line phone amplifier is that it is useful as a senior product. If a senior/elderly person has memory issues or early Alzheimer's and finds higher technology difficult then this could be a good product for them because the family member or care-giver could preset the adjustable volume for them, meaning they won't have to adjust it themselves. Unless they have a more severe hearing loss, they may not need to use the boost button at all.
SPECIAL NOTE: This product ONLY works with CORDED phones. The keypad must also be in the base of the phone, not in the handset like a princess phone.
SUGGESTION: If the senior/elderly family member has difficulty understanding the in-line phone amplifier and you want to preset the volume and be sure the user does NOT change or fiddle with the volume, then you could tape over the adjustable volume and tone control switch, preventing it from being changed. We do not recommend regular scotch tape as it is too easily removed, a harder to remove tape would be better, perhaps a packing tape would work well for this purpose.
